Steve Tait collaborates with WATSON Inc. on talent management projects including succession planning, CEO and executive evaluation, and executive coaching. He works closely with HR Committees and executives to help design, execute and facilitate effective CEO and board evaluations.
Steve worked as a commercial banker for 8 years with the TD Bank and thereafter for over 28 years with HSBC. He held the position of SVP HR for HSBC Bank Canada for 5 years where he oversaw the HR mandate for senior executive development, CEO assessment, HR policy formulation including performance and assessment systems, reward and leadership of the “people agenda”. He was subsequently posted to HSBC’s Group Headquarters in the UK as the Senior Executive, Group Human Resources where he worked with the senior executive team to assess and appoint its CEOs and business leaders across the 83 countries in which it operated. Following that assignment he returned to line banking as SVP of BC Region before being seconded to Hong Kong. There he held the position of Head of HR Asia Pacific Region for 9 years, overseeing the full human resource mandate of HSBC’s most profitable region which included 21 countries and 60,000 employees.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Sauder School of Business, UBC, is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and a Professional Certified Coach accredited by the International Coaching Federation. He remains well connected to the Hong Kong business community as a member of the HK Institute of Directors, a past Governor of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and a past Governor and Vice Chairman of the Canadian International School. He remains a non-executive director of Quam Limited, a listed financial institution in Hong Kong.
