Alicia Williams

Alicia is a governance associate at WATSON where she leads and supports governance reviews, board evaluations, director evaluations, policy development, and just in time advice related to board effectiveness and the board’s oversight of human resources, legal and financial matters. With a profound commitment to DEI, ESG and corporate sustainability, Alicia brings these lenses to all aspects of her work.

Alicia’s governance experience spans nearly 15 years, both as a board member and an executive reporting to boards. She currently serves on the boards of Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia and the Vancouver Westside German School Society.

Prior to joining WATSON, Alicia served as a CFO and senior financial executive for Canadian and US private and public companies, and not-for-profit organizations. As CFO, Alicia managed investor relations, performed business and asset valuations, negotiated mergers and acquisitions, facilitated capital raises, developed proformas (financial forecasts), and managed financial reporting and compliance in accordance with the SEC and GAAP. As a lawyer, and the corporate secretary for a publicly traded company, Alicia drafted and negotiated contracts, ensured compliance with government regulations, and managed all aspects of board governance – including policy, administration, and reporting.

Alicia holds a law degree (J.D.) from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems & Accounting and a Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University. Alicia’s licence to practice law is granted by the State of Arizona and she maintains a CPA designation in the State of Arizona and in the Province of British Columbia.
